Phil ''Schoon'' Hansen
Phil LaMarr Hansen, age 68, died of congestive heart failure, August 3, 1992 in Murray.

Born September 5, 1923, Park City to Henry and Hazel Sharp Hansen. Married Fay Morgan in New York City, November 8, 1944.

Survived by a daughter, Jane M. Hansen, Murray; son, Steven L. Hansen, Heber City; nine grandchildren; sister, Burtie Savage and her husband, Emil. Preceded in death by a son, David A. Hansen.

Member of the LDS Church. Graduated from Murray High School in 1941. Attended Carroll College, Helena, Montana; Montana State School of Mines, Butte, Montana and Northwestern University School for Judges, Chicago, Illinois. Veteran of World War II, U.S. Navy. Graduated from the University of Utah Law School in 1949. Received his Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor from University of Utah Law School in 1969. He was admitted to the Utah State Bar Association, Salt Lake County Bar Association, District Court of the United States, United States Courts of Appeal, United States Supreme Court in January, 1951. He practiced law in Murray and Salt Lake for 41 years. He was the youngest judge elected in the history of the United States for Murray City in 1952 and in 1964 he was elected the Utah State Attorney General. Retired from the practice of law because of prolonged illness.

He was past president of the Utah Criminal Law Section and American Board of Trial Lawyers. He was a prosecutor, defense lawyer, judge and Attorney General and appeared in more than 10,000 cases. He defended 187 homicide cases. Never lost any of his clients to the death penalty. He was listed in Who's Who in American, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the West for Lawyers and American Judges.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 12 noon, Murray Park LDS Ward, 450 East 5600 South. Friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State, and Thursday 11-11:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment: Murray City Cemetery.
