Mr. McMurry died Nov. 13, 1988 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Phoenix. He was 70. Mr. McMurry was born Nov. 6, 1918 in Dublin, Texas. He moved from Texas to Arizona 35 years ago.
Mr. McMurry was a retired cotton gin manager. He was a member of several organizations, including the Calvary Baptist Church; a lifetime member and past exalted ruler of the Casa Grande Elks lodge; a member of the Mason lodge No. 30; Tucson's Scottish Rite; Phoenix's El Zaribah; the American Legion; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization.
Mr. McMurry attended the University of Texas for three years. He was a U.S. Air Corps veteran of the World War II. He was decorated with a flying cross medal for squadron navigation and distinguished service.
He is survived by his wife, June, of Casa Grande; three sons, Guy, of Chandler, C. Steven, of Phoenix, and Gary T., of Peoria; a daughter, Judy Correll, of Stanfield; three sisters, Louise Waltrip, of Houston, Marguerite Ray, of Dallas, and Virginia Pearson, of Tyler, Texas; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
