Mrs Sue Gray Nichols, 88, of Okla City,OK died Monday in Mercy Hospital. Sue was born in Miller, Miss. Her parents were Columbus Taylor 1847-1910 and Julia Atimis Massey Brigance 1845-1925.

Sue had six brothers and three sisters. Melvin Alonzo 1869-1926, James "Jim" Columbus 1872 - 1942, Benjamin "Ed" 1873-1960, Nannie Olivia Brigance Cook 1875 -1959, Tillie Brown 1877-1877, Martha Alenia "Mattie" Brigance McKee, Claudis Eric 1881-1883, Walter Eugene "Gene" 1886-1967, and Preston Massey "Pres" 1891-1969. Sue outlived them all 1883-1972.

Sue married John Judson Nichols in 1908 in DeSoto Co, MS. They moved to Ringwood, Okla after their marriage. John was working for the railroad.

In 1918, John died suddenly leaving Sue with two young children. After his death, Sue moved to Okmulgee where three brothers were living. One brother Gene and his wife Madge helped in raising Sue's children, Lynell and Lurlene. Sue was a caregiver and spent many nights away from home.

Lynell was sick for many years and died of tuburculosis at age 30 in 1940. Lurlene married Harold Belt shortly after Lynell's death and moved to Okla City,OK. Sue moved there soon after.

Sue dedicated the rest of her life helping to raise three grandchildren in Okla City. Claudia Sue Belt Yost, John Claude Belt and Martha Gail Belt Malinowski. She was a loving and much loved grandmother. In fact, she was loved by everyone that met her. Sue was like honey to a bee. Everyone was attracted by her sweet smile and loving energy. With all the tragic loses in her early years, she never lost faith. Sue was a beautiful loving spiritual person and love seemed to radiate from her eyes.

Sue was active in her church and a lifetime member of Nova chapter 241 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
