Brittany Anne Gilbert, 19, died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, in Tuscaloosa. She was a resident of Elberta.
Gilbert was a freshman at Shelton State College in Tuscaloosa. She was a 2006 honors graduate of Foley High School, where she was the 2005 homecoming queen. She was a Foley Chamber of Commerce Junior Ambassador, served as her senior class secretary, was an Optimist and lettered for four years in varsity volleyball and softball. She was team captain her junior and senior years.
She was voted best personality her senior year and was a four-year member of the Honor Society, Interact and Student Council.
Survivors include her parents, Laura Ann and Russell J. Gilbert of Elberta; a brother, Blaine Russell Gilbert of Elberta; a sister, Amber Danielle Gilbert of Elberta; grandparents, Pat K. and Herman "Bubbles" Bloch of Elberta and Flora Gilbert of Gulf Shores.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Swift Presbyterian Church in Elberta. Burial will be in Elberta Public Cemetery immediately following the service.
A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to Foley High School Girls Sports, 1 Pride Place, Foley, AL 36535 or to the Swift Presbyterian Church, 23208 Swift Church Road, Foley, AL 36535.
Arrangements are by Pine Rest Funeral Home in Foley.
