Velva Knudson Cannegieter, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, December 2, 1992.

Born March 3, 1915 to Mathias and Julia Ann Angel Knudson. Married Morris William Cannegieter, November 24, 1939, the marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Velva attended school in Provo, Utah; graduating from Provo High School. Following her graduation from Brigham Young University she taught school for many years in Panguitch, Murray, Logan, Beaver, Price, Provo, and Salt Lake City.

She was an active member of the LDS Church.

She was a wonderful and beloved wife and companion to her husband for 53 years and provided loving and unfailing support to him and to her family throughout her life. She was ever patient, kind, understanding and encouraging. She was an inspiration to her family and friends. To associate with her was always an uplifting experience. Although she suffered ill health during the last few years of her life, she never lost her courage and her sweet and loving spirit. Her children considered her their best friend, and her grandchildren loved to be with her. Her greatest joy came from her family. She will be greatly missed.

Velva is survived by her husband; son and daughters, William Morris Cannegieter, Salt Lake City; Julie Cannegieter Rideout, Topeka, Kansas; Mary Lynne Cannegieter Wilkey, Nephi; 11 grandchildren; brother and sisters, Goldburn Laurence Knudson and Farel K. Kimball, both Provo; Eva K. McCleskey, Caldwell, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 5th, 1 p.m. in the Millcreek 8th Ward, 4558 So. 600 East. Friends may call Friday, from 7-9 p.m. at the Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary 4760 So. State and Saturday at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment Murray City Cemetery.
