"Julia, wife of John Adams, died at the home of her daughter, Margaret Southard, in this village on Sunday night last, aged 77 years.
Heart trouble, with which she had been afflicted for some years, together with other complications, was the cause of death.
Deceased was an old resident of Portland, having come to the township 56 years ago.
She settled with her husband on the farm now owned and occupied by her husband, in the northeast part of Portland. She was born in Bundy's Lane, Ontario, but moved to Lockport, N. Y. when a young girl and here she was married 59 years ago to the husband who survives her.
Beside the husband she is survived by three children – Henry of Clarendon, Arkansas; Mrs. Southard and Freeman Adams of Portland. She and her husband had resided apart for many years and she had made her home in the village for 24 years.
Funeral services will be held from her own home next south of Samuel S. Ramsey's at two o'clock on Wednesday afternoon of this week, to be conducted by Revs. Millard and Davis."
