Dr. Myers was called to the W. E. Riley home near Goff last Saturday afternoon to attend Mr. Riley. When he arrived, Mr. Riley was dead, having suffered a heart attack. Mr. Riley was the father of Mrs. Edna Moulden, who lived with her parents since the death of her husband and has many friends in Corning who extend deepest sympathy.

William Enoch Riley, seventy-six years of age, a native of Soldier community, and fifty-seven years a resident of Nemaha County, died at his home five and a half miles north of Soldier December 14th. He was a son of John and Emily (Hart) Riley and was born, February 16, 1864.
When he was six months of age the family moved to Avoca, Iowa, where he grew up. He returned in 1883 and shortly met and married Alice Jane Gabbert. Six children were born to them who are, Ada Turner, Topeka; Edna Moulden, of the home; Mabel Rozean of Goff; Frank Ray of Goff; John A. of Norton; and Florence Jones of Topeka. Mr. Riley was a farmer all his life.
Forty six years the place where he passed away was the family home. Last August 28, he and Mrs. Riley celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding anniversary. Mr. Riley was a good citizen, a devoted father, neighbor, and friend, a patient sufferer during the last five years when his failing health he was devotedly cared for by his faithful companion and children.
He was a member of the Bancroft Christian Church. Funeral services were conducted December 16th in Soldier Christian Church by Pastor, Rev. Wm. Mayfield who had also two years ago baptized him, his wife and daughter in the same place.
These friends from Goff, sang at the services: Mrs. L. J. Stark, Miss Mildred Lane, Messers Ed Holston and Charles Crandall, with Mrs. F. O. Brown, accompanying. The casket bearers were: Charles McMahon, Walter Stohr., Charles Gurney, Jesse Hittle, Jesse Wilcox, and Lawrence Swartz.
Interment was at Soldier. Beside his wife and children he is survived by seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and brothers and sisters: Bert, of Arapaho, Colo., Frank of Clarkston, Wash., Charles, of Worley, Idaho, Hattie Stanton, of Nez Perce, Idaho, and Carrie Annabel of Lislo, Nebraska.
