Florence Libby Barber was the daughter of Ernest Barber and Libbie Florence Babcock. She married Edmund Lawrence Kynast on September 12, 1906, at the Saginaw, Michigan home of her aunt and uncle, Joseph and Neva Wiggins. The Reverend Chandler W. Stephenson performed the ceremony. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Olin, Illinois to start a new life together, but returned to Saginaw when it was learned that Lawrence's stepfather Oswald was dying of stomach cancer. Lawrence took over the family grocery store and they remained in Saginaw for the rest of their lives. Lawrence and Florence had one child, a boy named Edmund Randall Kynast, but tragically he died at the age of five from bronchial pneumonia. His parents were heartbroken and kept his toys displayed around the house as a perpetual memorial. After Lawrence passed away in 1959, Florence finally learned how to drive an automobile and took a long road trip down to Florida. Some say she took to driving a bit too enthusiastically! Florence Libby (Barber) Kynast passed away in 1966 and was buried beside her husband at Saginaw's Forest Lawn Cemetery.
