*Note: Catherine Whiting was b. at Mt. Pisgah, IA., a semi-permanent settlement or way station from 1846 to 1852 along the Mormon Trail between Garden Grove and Council Bluffs, in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is located near the small community of Thayer in Jones Township, Union County.

MRS. CATHERINE EMALINE THOMAS
Death early yesterday called Mrs. Catherine Emaline Thomas, one of the city's widely known pioneer residents. Mrs. Thomas, who resided in San Bernardino for 50 years, was born in Springfield, Ill., and was 77 years old. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. A. Moseby, at 971 Eighth street.
Mrs. Thomas was a beloved member of the Latter Day Saints church and the Pioneer Society. She had been ill for the past two months.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by eight children, James C. Bresslin, A. A. Bresslin, Mrs. W. D. F. Allen, F. A. Thomas, of San Bernardino; Henry E. Thomas, of Bakersfield; Mrs. Lena Keyes, Waterford, Cal.; Mrs. C. A. Moseby, San Bernardino, and Theodore L. Thomas, of Patterson, Cal.;
two brothers, Edward L. Whiting, La Grande, Ore., and Edwin L. Whiting, Los Angeles;
and two sisters, Mrs. Cornelia Perry, of LaGrande, and Mrs. Silvia Hodson, of San Bernardino.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Latter Day Saints church. Interment will be in Mountain View cemetery.
