There was a glorious reunion early Sunday morning as Bob helped his dad, Lloyd Phillip Stone, take that step into eternity to be greeted by those who preceded him.
Stoney passed away November 22, 1992. Though he fought a good fight, his dear old heart just gave out.
His family was his life, his pride and joy. If it's possible to go overboard in love...that's Dad. He could always put things in perspective and was a great listener and counselor. His sense of humor is legendary, and the legacy of love he leaves is monumental. Lloyd Phillip Stone was born July 24, 1915 in Aberdeen, Idaho to David Phillip and Alice Tapp Stone. He married Emily Enniss June 8, 1937; there were later sealed in the Salt lake LDS Temple. He worked as a correctional counselor at the Utah State Prison and retired in 1980. Retirement wasn't in his agenda, and he went back to work until illness forced his second retirement at age 76.
He and his sweetheart are the parents of Jerry and Maxine Stone of Murray; Diane and Layne Downs of Lehi; Renae and Ernie Bedont, Mtn. Home ID; Marilyn and Robert Larson, and Lonnie and Kathy Stone, all of Sandy; Robin and Brent Bonham; his wife's sister, Erma, who was like a daughter to him, and her husband Terry Carlisle of Draper. Preceded in death by his son, Robert (Bob) Mark Stone on January 1989. He had 29 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Survived by his wife and family, who dearly love and cherish his memory; also his brother, Gerald and Grace Stone, and his sisters, Ruby Smith, Pearl Ohwiler, and Faye and Dallas Stradley.
A special thanks to those doctors, nurses and health care providers, who gave him such loving care, and to his friends, neighbors, and associates, who have expressed love and concern. Also to the BYU football team for making his last day on earth so enjoyable. We love you Father Stone, and welcome home Chief.
