Harold Dean "Bud" Hudson, 76, St. Onge, died Saturday, April 18, 2009, at the Spearfish Regional Hospital.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday with the family present at noon.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis with Rev. Michael Fox officiating. Burial with military honors by the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard follows at the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis.
Bud was born January 6, 1933 at Fairmont, MN, to Clarence and Josephine (Rosskoph) Hudson. He grew up in Fairmont and graduated from high school.
He served his country honorably as a member of the US Army during the Korean War.
Bud was a salesman for the Liggett Company and traveled southern Minnesota for several years. Later, he joined his former father in law and operated restaurants in Fairmont. The family moved to Ft. Thompson, SD, where Bud worked for the BIA for several years. They moved to Belle Fourche, SD in 1973 and Bud managed the Belle Fourche Country Club and also worked at the Federal Bentonite Company Plant.
He married Sharon Lee Liming on June 26, 1979 in Cheyenne, WY. Together they owned and operated the Whitewood Bar until retirement in 2004.
Bud enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was a former member of the Sturgis Veterans Honor Guard. He was a member of the Sturgis VFW.
Survivors include his wife Sharon Hudson, St. Onge, SD; son Todd Hudson, Sioux Falls; daughters, Mary Jo (Kenny) Felion, Granada, MN, Teri (Chris) Hudson-Dirks, Harrisburg, SD; step children, Scott (Kathy) Shear, Coventry, CT, Jeff (Diane) Shear, Belle Fourche, Kim (Dave) Chancey, Santa Barbara, CA; one sister, Helen Hyde, Fairmont, MN; aunt, Ann Rahn, Fairmont, MN; 15 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; and his best friend, Duke.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters and one grandson.
