Daughter of:
(Sep 15 1861/ Jan 02 1944)
(July 16 1859/ Oct 28 1914)

Parents Married: Nov 22 1880, Grantsville, Tooele, UT

Lucille was the youngest child of 13. And, the last child to died. Lucille got in trouble as a little girl when she put little baby mice in her mothers bread dough... in hopes of keeping them warm. Mother was baking and Lucille found a nest of baby mice... because it was cold outside she brought them into the kichen and quickly stashed them into mother's bread dough.

At the age of 9 Lucilles mother Rhoda Ann Beattie died at the early age of 55. It was tramatic for Lucille to watch her mother from the foot of her bed... as she laid there motionless. She passed away on: October 28th, 1914. Rhoda has experienced black-outs which sacared Lucille as she watched her mother fall faint. They were unpredictable fainting spells. And, being the youngest in the family, baby Lucille didn't understand what was going on when her mother did this.

William M. Beattie remarried Bessie Marie Green on December 08, 1915. Together they had 2 children: Deloy & Thaye Spackman. It was a very hard transition for Lucille to experience... having no mother at the age of 9... and now having a step mother. To help deal with the emptyness Lucille lived with her older 2 sisters Mae & Tom Stoddard, and Ethel & Marion Brown, in Madison County, Idaho. They lived behind each other, so Lucielle could come and go as she pleased.

She married LEO SMITH who died on his birthday from a heart-attache. Then re-married SPENCER OWEN.

Lucille had 3 children with Leo. Two twin boys William & Fredrick or usually called "Bill & Fritz" for short. And a daugher Joann Smith (who never married). She had no children with Spencer Owen.

Lucille favored having the family "BEATTIE REUNION" as often as possible. She promised as long as she was alive she would make sure it lived on. The Reunions were usually organized by a Beattie family member, and had 50+ individuals who showed. Always a program with lots of food/ many photos taken and good long visits between the families.

She lived with her son Fredrick at his home in Holladay, Utah up until his death in 1991, dying from lung cancer. Then Lucille lived at "Golden Living Retirement Community". Located at 2011 West 4700 South, Taylorsville, UT. She became very tired and was sent to Pioneer Valley Hospital, in West Valley City, where she died about 3 days later. She died of natural causes due to old age. She was 88 years old. Most females in the Beattie family lived in their 80's.

Lucille was the sweetest thing that ever walked the Earth. If you didn't vist her often you were in trouble. She would say "I've been all so alone". She adored visting with you..and charished your love/friendship.
