Stella Marie Vogel, 85, died Friday morning, June 2, 2000, at Calumet Homestead Rehabilitation Center, New Holstein, where she resided the past 1 ½ years. She was the former Stella Bebermeier born Oct. 8, 1914, to the late Edward and Sophie Koeser Bebermeier. She was married to Herbert Vogel with whom she worked side by side farming and made many meals for a threshing crew of 13 men. She also worked at the former Kiel Wooden Ware and AA Laun Furniture Co. until she retired. She was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel. Stella enjoyed quilting, embroidery, canning, gardening, crossword puzzles and word search.
Survivors include her husband, Herbert of Kiel; one son, Herbert Jr. (Lynn) Vogel, rural Elkhart Lake; two daughters; Karen (Vic) Bruening, Waterford, Cheryl (Robert) Hersey, Elkhart Lake; 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Lynn in 1998; two brothers, Arno and Milton; and one sister, Esther.
Funeral services will be held at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel, with the Rev. Raymond C. Coombs, officiating. Burial will be in the Schleswig Cemetery, Rockville.
