Herbert O. Vogel, Sr, 92, of 13628 Meggers Road, Kiel, died peacefully Thursday evening, August 24, 2006 at his daughter, Cheryl's home. He was born January 13, 1914 in the town of Schleswig, son of the late Herman & Ella Wegner Vogel. On November 8, 1933 he married Stella M. Bebermeier in Louis Corners. Stella preceded him in death on June 2, 2000. Herb farmed in the town of Schleswig much of his life. He also worked at AA Laun Furniture Co., Kiel and drove a cattle truck in the area until his retirement. He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel Herb enjoyed the outdoors where he could work in his garden and yard and raise chickens. He also liked listening to polka music.
Survivors include three children, Herbert Jr. (Lynn) Vogel, rural Elkhart Lake, Karen (Vic) Breunig, Waterford, WI, Cheryl (Bobby) Hersey, rural Elkhart Lake, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He is further survived by one sister, Esther Boje, Kiel, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife and one daughter, Lynn Vogel.
Funeral series will be held at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Kiel, with the Rev. Judine Duerwaechter, officiating. Burial will take place in the Schleswig Cemetery.
