He was a member of Holy Deliverance Church and also of God in Christ of Rensselaer.
Survivors in addition to his wife include; two sons, David Beaty and Michael Holmes both of Troy; three daughters, Sara Pompey, Doris Jackson, and Abbie Holmes, all of Troy; two brothers, George Smalls of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Theodore Holmes Jr. of Troy; a sister, Mary Middleton of Troy; and five grandchildren.
