Mr. Lomber was a self-employed refrigeration repairman and worked for Loblaws grocery stores maintaining refrigeration before retiring in 1985.
Born Sept. 13, 1919, in New Bremen, son of Albert L. and Mary Burkhard Lomber, he attended Croghan schools. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He was an aviation aerial gunner, radar operator and navigator.
He married Arlene B. Skinner on July 1, 1946, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Watertown.
Mr. Lomber was a member of Brownville Busy Bee Gees, a founding member of Baldy Creek Rod and Gun Club, Tug Hill, a 50-year member of the RESES refrigeration union and a 40-year member of Plumbers and Steam Fitters Union. He was an honorary member of the Brownville Fire Department.
Surviving beside his wife are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary A. Lomber, Dexter, David and Ann Lomber, Pulaski, and John and Andrea Lomber, Dexter; two daughters, Carol A. Romeo, Sackets Harbor, and Mary A. Siver, Sackets Harbor; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Four brothers, Charles, Roger, Walter and Paul, and two sisters, Anna Horeth and Helen Kovacs, died before him.
A memorial Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church, Brownville, with Kevin O'Brien, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Brownville Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
