H. E. YOUNG FUNERAL TUESDAY

Funeral services for Herman E. Young were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from Prann's Funeral Parlors in Hermiston. Interment was in the Heppner Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. Carlson of La Grande, assisted by A. B. Turner, pastor of the Pentecostal Church of Hermiston.

Mr. Young died at St. Anthony's Hospital in Pendleton, Saturday, February 18, following an illness of two months of staphylococci infection and blood poisoning. He underwent a major operation early Saturday, but was too weak to survive.

Pallbearers at the funeral were E. B. Wattenburger, Otis McCarty Sr., Fred Lee, Marion Finch, Fred Rauch and Clayton Ayers.

Herman E. Young was born at, Hartville, Missouri, May 2, 1887, and passed away February 18, 1939 at the age of 51 years. He spent his childhood and young manhood in the state of Missouri,

He was married to Artie V. Garner, September 16, 1906. To this union six children were born. Mr. Young and his family moved to Oregon in 1918 where they have remained, making their home on Butter Creek. Mrs. Young passed away in February 1929. A daughter, Doris, died at the age of three years. The other five children are E. B. Young, The Dalles, Mrs. Emery Cox of Hermiston, Mrs. Paul C. Bull of Enterprise, Lowell and Geneva of Echo, who survive.

On December 13, 1930, Mr. Young was married to Mrs. Lura Sprague, and to this union three children were born, James, Juanita and Robert Young, all of whom are living. Besides those mentioned he is survived by his widow Lura, a stepson, Homer Sprague, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Young of Hartville, Missouri, two sisters, Ida of Hartville, and Mrs. W. F. Austin of Shoshone, Idaho; three brothers, Ed of Hartville; Bryan of Jerome, Idaho; and George of Shoshone; and six grandchildren, Betty, Geraldine, Edward and Donna Marie Cox; Billy Young and Beverley Jean Bull.

Mr. Young became a member of' the Christian church in 1927.
