I note his wife's gravestone says McClure instead of McCluer.
Nathan McCluer, died 8 Aug 1855 in Rockbridge Co., VA, of Liver disease, aged 69 years, the son of John & Jane (sic) McCluer, born Rockbridge Co., husband of Jane McCluer, reported by son in law, J P Leckey. Rockbridge Co., VA Death Register.
The W.P.A. Inventory here (page 8, #89) transcribed his marker with the incorrect age at death:
In memory of
Nathan McCluer
who departed this life
Aug. 8, 1855
Aged 84 (sic) years.
It clearly says aged 69 years, as does the death register.
The name of the engraver is on the bottom right. It might say A D Dugan ir Dagan.
According to the above inventory, it appears she was buried next to James Paxton McCluer, David T McCluer, Mary Elizabeth McCluer and Mary Mills McClure.
