BEACON — An Onondaga County man was arrested today after he allegedly confessed to killing his wife to the Beacon police department.
State police based in the Town of Wappinger arrested Alex D. Martinez, 22, of Liverpool, Onondaga County, after he walked into the Beacon police department and told the desk officer he killed his wife, 21-year-old Angela Harris of Liverpool, sometime Saturday morning, state police said.
Martinez, who is a former Beacon resident, drove the body to Dutchess County and dumped it in the Beacon Reservoir off of Monument Road in the Town of Fishkill.
Beacon city police contacted the state police after they realized the body was located just outside the city.
State police investigators did not say why Martinez killed his wife. Investigators were unable to say if Martinez was involved with any earlier instances of domestic violence involving Harris.
State police transported Martinez back to Onondaga County Sunday night to face charges there.
Also involved in the investigation are the Dutchess County and Onondaga County District Attorney's Offices and the Dutchess County Medical Examiner's Office.
It was unclear when an autopsy might be performed or the exact charges he may face.
