Jay came to Minneapolis, Kansas on an Orphan Train from New York City in 1910. He was 4 years old. This is the information from his file:
Jay, 4 years old
Jay was brought to the Children's Aid Society through the court system. His home was deemed unfit due to poverty suffered by his parents.

Guy Henry and Ethel Bernard lived near Glasco, and went to Minneapolis for the placing out. They were 39 and 38 years old in 1910. Ethel reported having had no children, but they had 4 year old Marjorie, and (an?) adopted daughter living with them. At the placing out, they got a 4 year old boy named Jay. The family had moved to Kansas City by 1920. He served in World War II and is buried at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery.
