James Peay Kelton b 12 Oct 1844 Rutherford Co Tennessee d 22 Apr 1910 Dallas Dallas Co Texas. Parents James Kelton and Elizabeth White. Spouse Elizabeth Annette "Nettie" Carnes married 8 Dec 1868 Rutherford Co Tennessee. Children: Leslie Eugene Sr, Herschel Carnes, Alva Lee, Walter Elmo, Horace Almanezer, Myrtle M, William White Sr, Lillian "Lillie", Lucille.

J. P. Kelton died yesterday at his home 487 Haskell Avenue. The funeral will be conducted at 3 o'clock this afternoon and burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
J. P. Kelton was born in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Oct 12, 1844; received his early education in Louisville, Ky; married Miss Nettie Carnes, daughter of W. D. Carnes; entered the Confederate Army at the outbreak of the Civil War and served under Gen. A. S. Johnston. He was the father of nine children, of whom all, except a son who died in infancy, are living. The children are Dr. L. E. Kelton, Corsicana; A. L. Kelton, Nashville, Tenn.; Dr. Walter Kelton Seattle Wash.; Horace Kelton, Dallas; Mrs. F. L. Hopkins, Carlsbad, N. M.; Will Kelton, Dallas; Misses Lucile and Lillie Van Hise. With the exception of Dr. Kelton of Seattle, all the children were present at the death of their father.
Mr. Kelton was an Odd Fellow.
