Mr. Norris Lanier Prescott, 88, died Tuesday (December 6, 2011) at his residence following a short illness.
He was a native of Folkston but had moved back to Waycross in 1984. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Ursrey Prescott; his parents, Hampton Prescott and Beulah Wildes Prescott and a daughter, Ann Johnson.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a Prisoner of War. He was a member of the V.F.W., the Teamster Operating Engineers and Sweat Memorial Baptist Church. He retired from Florida Rigging and Crane Service in Miami, FL.
Survivors include a son, Tommy Prescott (wife Janet) of Fayetteville, GA; two daughters, Glenda Worth of Orange Park, FL and Peggy Moore of Waycross; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday (December 9, 2011) at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at Music Funeral Home Thursday from 5 until 7.
