The Durango Herald (CO) > October 1, 2008 > James "Jim" Harold Alsup, Sr. died on Friday, September 26, 2008, at Four Corners Health Care Center. He was 86. Mr. Alsup was born to Miles and Ada Bell Alsup on October 16, 1921, in Kennett, Missouri, where he was raised. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War. He retired after 20 years of service as master sergeant, receiving the Bronze Star for his service. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Alsup moved to Lakewood, where he worked as a liquor sales representative for McKesson Corp. for 20 years. He was a member of the Lakewood Elk Lodge No. 1777 and the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed playing poker. Mr. Alsup moved to Durango in 2005 to be closer to his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlene Alsup, and his daughter, Linda. He is survived by his son, James "Jay" Alsup, Jr. of Durango, one granddaughter; three step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Cremation has occurred. Interment of ashes will take place at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver at a later date.
