Henry Berlitz, 76, a decorated veteran of World War II and the Korean War, died Wednesday evening at Hazleton General Hospital.

He lived at 236 E. Green St., West Hazleton He, along with brothers, the late Philip, Harry and Fred, owned the former Berlitz Movers. Born in West Hazleton, he was the son of the late Daniel and Jesse (Bachman) Berlitz, and lived in the Hazleton area all of his life. He was a member of St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hazleton. He took part in the Normandy Invasion at Utah Beach and was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Combat Infantry Badge, the Good Conduct Medal, the World War H Victory Medal, and European Campaign Medals. He served with the Yankee Division 9-4 and was a past state commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. In addition, he was active with the VAVS at the Wilkes-Barre Veterans Hospital. Before retiring, he was employed by Hajoca Corp. of Hazleton.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents and brothers, were sisters, Eleanore Sokolofski and Blanche Klines-mith. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Surviving are his wife, the former Catherine Piskel; a son, Daniel, Drums; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Fierro Funeral Home Inc., 26 W. Second St., Hazleton, followed by Divine Liturgy with the High Office of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Johns B.C. Church. Interment will take place Monday in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
