WINNABOW - Mr. Claude Richmond Sellers, age 85, of George II Highway, died Sunday, September 21, 2003, in New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Born in Brunswick County on June 9, 1918, he was a son of the late Charlie R. and Ruth Swain Sellers. He was retired from Weyerhauser Pulp Company after 30 years of service as Regional Supervisor. Mr. Sellers was a U.S. Army, WW II veteran, having served in the European Theater under General Patton. He was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church and the American Legion.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Betty Bass Sellers: two sons, James Robert Sellers and wife Waynea of Bolivia, Samuel Reid Sinclair, Jr., and wife Becky of Wilmington; two daughters, Delores Lynch and husband Al of Leland, NC, Barbara Holden and husband Arrell of Winnabow; a brother Clifton Arthur Sellers and wife Mary of Mobile, AL; three sisters, Eppie Lewis of Leland, Lucy Mae Southerland of Southport, Lottie Jane Creech of Bolivia; a brother-in-law, Thomas Sing of Supply; twelve grandchildren, Tina, Shelby, Robert, Stephanie, Samantha, Sabrina, Reid, Ken, Barbie, Georgeanna, April and St. Sgt. Steven Cooker; nineteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 24, 2003, in Town Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend V.C. Potter, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 p.m., Tuesday at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service & Crematory, Supply Chapel
Pallbearers will be The Brotherhood of Town Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Joe Best will serve as honorary pallbearer.
