LAWRENCE -- Lucille Fisher Achning, 93, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor. She was born on December 4, 1905 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer E. and Minnie Stiefel Fisher.

She moved to Lawrence from Kansas City in 1930, and she graduated from University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in music education in 1934.

Mrs. Achning was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church, Chapter GQ of PEO Sisterhood, the KU Alumni Association and the Gold Medal Club at KU.

She was married to Carl Achning on June 23, 1936 in Lawrence. He preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 1984. She is survived by nieces.

Cremation is planned. Memorial services for Mrs. Achning will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.

Inurnment will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials in her name to the Plymouth Congregational Church and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
