Obituary:
Creedon M. Beltzhoover, 83, of 533 Lerew Road, Carlisle, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005, in his home.
Born Oct. 8, 1921, in Carlisle, he was a son of the late William and Charlotte Beltzhoover.
Mr. Beltzhoover was a retired employee of the Cumberland County Assessment Office and a former owner and operator of the Beltzhoover Corner Grocery on East Louther Street, Carlisle. He also farmed all of his life in South Middleton Township. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member and former trustee of the First Presbyterian Church in Carlisle, a former member of the Cumberland Valley Savings and Loan board of directors, past president of the South Middleton Township School District, past president of Carlisle Fish and Game and a member of American Legion Post 101. He attended a lot of public sales, was a member of local farm groups and a member of the AARP.
Mr. Beltzhoover is survived by his wife, Dorothy I. (Shaw) Beltzhoover; a daughter, Mary Lea Shenk of Carlisle; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, George Beltzhoover, and two sisters, Pauline Stammel and Grace Wise.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in the First Presbyterian Church, 2A N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Jon Black and the Rev. Cree Clark officiating. Burial, with military honors conducted by the Cumberland County Honor Guard, will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Monroe Township, at the convenience of the family.
Friends may call Sunday, following services in the church social hall.
Hollinger Funeral Home and Crematory, Mt. Holly Springs, is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 2A N. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
