Married by 1641 Margaret Otis, daughter of John Otis of Hingham and Weymouth (in his will of 30 May 1657 he bequeathed to "my daughter Margarett Burton & her three children;" she was almost certainly the widow Burton who died at Hingham 21 October 1670.
They had four children (all baptized Hingham, parents not named): Hannah Henley, Phebe Johnson, Ruth,& Sarah Snell.
Although all the children of Edward and Margaret (Otis) Burton were baptized at Hingham beginning in 1641, the family probably did not move there until 1646 or 1647, since Burton sold most of his Charlestown land in 1646, and his first grant of land in Hingham was in 1647.
