According to Citizens Funeral Home record, the death date on the marker is incorrect. He died from diphtheria. Son of Noah Adams, born Belmont, MS and Dovie (Pannell) born Baldwin, MS.–Citizens Funeral Home record.

On 17 Sep 2002, his mother, Dovie, said that she did not have an infant to die and this is the only child that she has buried here. Her children are Buford, Nell, Chris and Billy Ray who was born Aug 9, 1948.

Dovie’s parents were from MS. Her father died when she was a little girl and she could not remember his name. Her mother was Savannah. Her sisters were Gracie, Alice, and Lillie. Dovie was the youngest.

Buford Adams died at John Gaston Hospital in Memphis at the age of 11 years. He was buried at Gibson Bayou on Jul 29, 1946 by Citizens Funeral Home. He died of Diptheria, Circulatory Collapse.

The 1920 census of Prentiss County, MS shows Savannah Pannell, head, age 45 and widowed, with 4 daughters; Grace age 15, Alice age 14, Lillie age 9, and Dovie age 6. Savannah and all the children had been born in MS, their father in SC. On the 1910 census, the family was also in Prentiss County, MS. The husband of Savannah was William M. Pannell, age 64, born SC. He and Savannah had been married 9 years.
