He was the son of Alphonzo Moses and Beatrice Griggs Moses Perez and the husband of Nora Jean Giles Moses, to whom he was married on March 31, 1964. He taught at Reed High School in the Dumas School District until 1969. He was provost at Morris Booker Memorial College. He also worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad as a brakeman and conductor for 29 years.
