Wilbern Leroy Banderman, 65, known to all as Leroy, Grubville, formerly of St. Clair, departed this life suddenly near his home on May 7, 2000.

Leroy was the son of Harry Rudolf Banderman and Silva May Banderman, nee Brown. On September 12, 1953, he married Rose Mary McDermott and they had four children.

Leroy is survived by his wife, Rose Mary Banderman, Grubville; one son, John Paul Banderman and wife Kristine, St. Clair; two daughters, Connie Evans and husband John, St. Louis, and Carol Ripley and husband Dan, Lee's Summit; one brother, William "Bill" Banderman and wife Ginger, St. Clair; two sisters, Margaret Inman and husband Abe, Ironton, and Mary Jane Banderman, St. Clair; his sister-in-law, Cordella Banderman, Stanton; his aunt, Clara Johnson, St. Clair; five grandchildren, Scott Evans, Sylvia Evans, Danielle Ripley, Andrew Ripley and Mary Banderman; brothers- and sisters-in-law; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

In addition to his parents, Leroy was preceded in death by his son, James Lee Banderman; and by two brothers, Harold E. Banderman and John Junior Banderman.

Leroy was of the Catholic faith and had attended St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Luebbering. He lived in the Franklin county area throughout his life and was well-known. Leroy was employed as a senior engineering technician for Advantage Engineering Inc. of Chesterfield, having retired in 1997 after 38 years of employment.

Visitation was held after 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, at Russell Colonial Funeral Home in St. Clair with parish prayer service at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 10, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Luebbering with burial in the church cemetery.
