Rev. Irwin P. Alger, 89, of Melba, died on Monday, May 18, 1992, at a Nampa care center. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, 1992, at the Melba Friends Church. Pastor Rob King of the church will officiate assisted by Pastor Walter Lee of the Friends Church, Burial will follow in the Melba Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, Nampa.
Rev. Irwin P. Alger was born on November 11, 1902, at Aromas, California, where he was reared and educated. In 1927 he graduated from the Huntington Park Bible School in Southern California. He was ordained as an elder in the Friends Church in 1929. He married Zarilda Ingram on Nov. 11, 1925, in California. Together they pastored Friends churches in California and throughout the Northwest. In 1971 they moved to Melba where Irwin became the associate pastor of the Melba Friends Church. His wife preceded him in death on Jan. 12, 1981. He married Mary A Fisher on June 4, 1984, in Boise and they made their home in Melba. He was a member of the Melba Friends Church. He was an avid fisherman and a very dedicated minister.
Irwin is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary A. Alger, Melba; a daughter and son-in-law, Miriam and Larry Wilks, Nampa; a sister, Edna Nutcher, Denair, CA; a granddaughter, Sarah Wilks, and a grandson, Jeremy Wilks, both of Nampa.
