Musician. Born in Athens, Georgia, he was best known as the original guitarist and founding member of New Wave rock band The B-52s. A self-taught guitarist, he joined The B-52s in 1977, after an impromptu music session at a Valentine's Day party for friends. With the group, he toured and appeared in the film "One Trick Pony" (1980) and recorded four albums. He died from AIDS complications at age 32 in New York City.
