Charles "Chuck" Gilbert Darden Jr., 46, of Gleason, died Thursday, April 9, 2009, at his residence.

Services were held 11 am Monday at Beech Springs Baptist Church, Gleason, with Bro. Bob Copeland officiating. Burial was in Beech Springs Cemetery, Gleason. Bowlin Funeral Home of Dresden was in charge of arrangements.
Cha-Chi Darden, Butch Madding, Scott Madding, Chad Madding, Jason Madding and Billy Madding, Mark Wilkerson, Michael Wilkerson, and Jessie Biggers served as pallbearers.

Darden was born in Webberville, Mich., son of the late Charles Gilbert Sr. and Phyllis Marie Hammond Darden. He was a member of Jackson Generals Wheelchair Pro Basketball Team, winner of 1992 West Tennessee Toughman contest, placed first in shot put in 1996 ParaOlympics. He was a member of Beech Springs Baptist Church, Gleason.

Survivors also include his wife, April Dawn Madding Darden of Gleason; three daughters, Tamara Darden and finance Jessie Biggers of Dresden, Sasha Darden and Dostianna Darden, both of Gleason; one son, Charles "Cha-Chi" Gilbert (Natalie Lynn) Darden III of Howell, Mich; two brothers, Warren (Becky) Darden of Dresden and Brian (Dee) Elliott of Martin; and two grandchildren, Blake Conner Darden and Isabella Marie Darden, both of Howell, Mich.
