Obituary, 22 Dec to 23 Dec 2020, "The Punxsutawney Spirit" (Punxsutawney, Jefferson Co., PA)
Mildred (Snyder) Adams
1932 - 2020
Mildred (Snyder) Adams, 88, of Punxsutawney, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, Dec. 20, 2020, at McKinley Health Center in Brookville.
She was born on Sept. 7, 1932, in Timblin, a daughter of the late Maurice W. Snyder and Veda Grace (McGaughey) Adams.
On Feb. 3, 1951, she married her sweetheart, Carl Duane "Porky" Adams. The two were recently reunited, as he preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 2020.
Mrs. Adams was a life-long member of the Dora Evangelical Church. She was a true example of faith and raised all her children on Christian values.
Prior to starting a family, she worked at Sylvania in Brookville. When her children were born, she became a wonderful homemaker and left the job at Sylvania behind. She will be remembered by her family as a loving, attentive mother.
"Mid" was an avid quilter, and she crafted many beautiful quilts over her lifetime. Many of these she made for family members or gave to close friends. These quilts are no doubt still in use by all who received them, and they stand as a lasting memory of her goodwill toward those she loved. She loved her family, friends and neighbors. She was a caring woman who would do anything for anyone.
She loved to tell stories about her childhood growing up in Timblin in a small house filled with her many brothers and sisters. All her life, she remained close to all her brothers and sisters and their families. "Mid" was the last of her immediate family.
"Mid" liked to read her Bible and spend time watching NASCAR with her husband, Carl.
She is survived by four children, Linda (Gary) Shaffer of Punxsutawney, Rhonda Adams of Punxsutawney, Richard Adams of Johnstown, and Valerie (Daryl) Freedline of Dayton; two grandchildren, Thomas Shaffer of Punxsutawney and Nicholas (Lacey) Shaffer of Punxsutawney; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by six brothers, Claude, Dewey, Harold, Darrell, Marlin and Beryl Snyder, and four sisters, infant Geraldine Snyder, Ethel Campbell, Ruth Fiscus and Ruby Yarger.
A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc., Punxsutawney.
Interment will follow at Zion Cemetery, Porter Township, Jefferson County.
