OKLAHOMA CITY Otis J. (O.J.) Pearson, 94, passed away June 15, 2012. He was born January 5, 1918, in Marlow, Oklahoma, and the last surviving child of twelve children of Joseph Francis and Annie L. Pearson. Visitation will be at Bill Merritt Funeral Home, 6201 Northwest 39th Expressway, Bethany, Oklahoma. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 2012, in the Memorial Chapel at Resurrection Memorial Cemetery in Oklahoma City.
O.J. grew up on a Harmon County farm in the depression. From there it was to Wyoming for the Civilian Conservation Corps, the army during World War II, the Veterans Administration and the F.A.A. His greatest happiness was his marriages, his children and his grandchildren. He was most contented on his farm. There he caught the fish for his large annual fish fry for his family and anyone else he could get there. The grandchildren have many fond memories of those, including riding the white mule. O.J. created many wonderful memories for his family to remember him by.
He was happily married to Edalaine Pearson for more than 31 years and, following her death, to Evelyn Pearson for more than 33 years until her death. He was also predeceased by his son, Jerry Wayne Pearson; his granddaughter, Monica Ann Pearson; and step-granddaughter, Becky Pearson.
He is survived by two sons, Jim Pearson and Jeffrey Pearson; five grandchildren, Kathy Pearson, Susan Partington, Shane Pearson, Tyler Pearson, and Emily Rogers; nine great-grandchildren; and two stepchildren, Karen Huber and Timothy Scrivner and their children and grandchildren.
