Mr. Robert Edgar Bodenhamer, 73, died Wednesday (April 15, 2009) at Kindred Hospital in Green Cove Springs, (Clay Co) FL following a long illness.

He was a native of TyTy, GA but had resided in Waycross since 1976. He was son of the late Dr. William Turner Bodenhamer and Miriam Brooks Bodenhamer and was preceded in death by a brother, David S. Bodenhamer.

He was a graduate of Tifton High School, 1957 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and received his Master's Degree from the University of Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Victory-Keystone Sunday School Class. He was a former director of the RDC, former employee of the State Department of Education, and former director for the State Department of Industry and Trade. He was the owner of Southeastern Benefits Corporation.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Drawdy Bodenhamer of Waycross; a daughter, Beth Bodenhamer Odom (husband Tom) of Hahira; two sons, Robert Edgar Bodenhamer, Jr. (wife Kathy) of Augusta, Russell Bodenhamer (wife Angie) of Blackshear; three brothers, William T. Bodenhamer of Ontario, Canada, Douglas M. Bodenhamer of Acworth, Stephen Bodenhamer of Hawaii; nine grandsons, Ed Bodenhamer, III, Bill Bodenhamer, Trey Odom, Andrew Odom, Matthew Odom, Mason Bodenhamer, Chris Inman, Logan Inman and Brad Inman; and one great granddaughter, Catherine Odom.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday (April 18, 2009) at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery in Tifton. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday night from 6 until 8.

The family request for the Victory-Keystone Sunday School Class to meet at the funeral home Saturday at 10.40 a.m. to serve as honorary pallbearers. Sympathy may be expressed by signing the online registry at www.musicfuneralhome.com.
