Funeral for Katie Brock Ladd, 67, of Hartselle will be Friday, April 17, 2009, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Brown officiating.
Burial will be in New Center Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ladd, who died Wednesday, April 15, 2009, at Decatur General Hospital, was born June 18, 1941, in Walker County to Benjamin F. and Tessie Ivey Brock. She graduated from Morgan County High School in 1959. After a long civil service career at several installations, she retired from Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery. Katie was a dedicated, longtime active member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, a social philanthropic sorority. She especially loved raising money for St. Jude Children's Hospital. Her father, and her brother, Harold Kenneth Brock, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth L. Ladd; her mother, Tessie Brock of Hartselle; one brother, James Brock and wife, Maudie, of Hartselle; two sisters, Brenda Close and husband, Tom, of Decatur and Bonnie Brock of Phoenix, Ariz.; three nieces, Teresa Paitsel and husband, Jeff, of Decatur, Deborah Blackwood of Hartselle and Beth Helmick and husband, Steve, of Columbia, Md.; nephew, Raymond Close and wife, Myung Su of Pottong, South Korea; nine grand nieces and nephews; and one great-grandniece. She is also survived by Ken's three brothers and four sisters and their families.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be the men of ESA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or to Easter Seals.
