HAMILTON - Ora "Beatrice" Puckett Scott, 89, Hamilton, died on Wednesday, September 9, 1998, at her residence. She was born on August 2, 1909 in Carbon Hill, the daughter of the late Julius and Vinnie Victoria Sanderson Boyett. She had lived in the Sipsey Fork Community of Monroe County, Miss., for 57 years and in Hamilton for one year. She was a member of the New Center Point Free Will Baptist Church in Mississippi. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and cooking.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Rev, C.R. Puckett, a son Charles Douglas Puckett, grandsons Rickey Puckett and Shannon Blaylock, and great-grandsons, Jacky Spratlin and Isaac Seth Vann.
Funeral services were held on Friday, September 11, 1998, at 2 p.m. from the New Center Point Free Will Baptist Church in Sipsey Fork, MS., with burial in the Pickle Cemetery in Monroe County, MS. Rev. Scott Nicholson, James Walden, and Edward Puckett were the officiating ministers.
Pallbearers were Jimmy, Donald, Mitchell, Joel, Tim, Mark and Douglas Puckett, Roger Spratlin, Tracy Knight, Dean Baker and Keith Vann.
Survivors include her husband - Curtis Lee Scott, Hamilton; sons - William G. Puckett, Amory, MS., Bobby Gene Puckett, Detroit, Wayne Puckett, Greenwood Springs, MS., and Edward Puckett, Hamilton; daughters - Willer Dean Spratlin, Lois Dove, both of Hamilton, Lou Embery, Bristow, OK., Ruth Vann, Sulligent, Wanda Blaylock, Greenwood Springs, MS., and Lela Mae Holland, Smithville, MS.; brothers - Hugh L. Boyett and Quince Boyett both of Hamilton; sister - Julius Crowe, Hamilton; 28 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-granchildren.
E.E.Pickle Funeral Home of Amory, MS., directed the services.
