Louis arrived in New York with his mother, Lena Ellison, around 1891. By 1908 he had established his business as a junk dealer and married Rae Goodman. They had eight children: Samuel (1908-1974), Beatrice (1910-1989), Jerome (1913-1996), Manuel (1915-1930), Sylvia (1918-1991), Theo (1926-present), Maurice (1927-1980) and Bernard, born in 1918 and killed by a car in 1925, aged seven. Louis enlisted in the army in 1918; yet, he was never naturalized as an American citizen.

(I hope that one of Rae and Louis' descendants will contact me and ask to manage their Find A Grave memorials, and those of their children.)
