The Informer, April 24, 1964
'Mr. C. A. Oglesby was the honored guest at the Masonic Hall in Jasper on Saturday, April 18, when he was presented his 50 year membership pin. The presentation was made by R. W. District Deputy Grand Master O. J. Snow of Harrison. Mr. Oglesby joined the Masons in 1910. A nice pot luck dinner was served prior to the presentation, and was enjoyed by about 30 members and friends. Mr. Oglesby was accompanied by his wife, daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. Guist of St. Charles, MO.
On Memorial Day, 1961, as we came to our office, we met Mt. Oglesby as a prospective buyer. He told us that he was about ready to leave, as he had not been able to locate what he was looking for-a small country store which he and his wife could handle. A quiet spoken man, sincere and friendly, whose looks belied his 81 years, his clear gray eyes would look straight into yours as he talked. Bob told him about such a store, showed it to him and in less than 2 hours he had taken possession. Ever since, he has been a fine friend and neighbor in the little community of Parthenon.'
