Herschel Bermann was born in Dubrovista, (Dombrovitza), Lutsk, Volhynia, Russian Empire, (now part of the Ukraine).
Sometime after 1900 and before May 1906, Herschel begins a path of emigration from his home in Dombrovitza to America.
What route he took, and/or if he traveled with others is unknown, but by 1906 he is living in Baltimore with a goal of working / saving money to sponsor his family's passage to America.
Later, his wife, his four (4) young sons, and a youthful sister arrive to Baltimore, MD, on 31 May 1906. Eventually they would settle in nearby Washington DC, (Georgetown neighborhood).
