Denison Bulletin - Wednesday , January 8th, 1930 - Deloit, la., Jan. 7th - Mr. Sir Isaac Newton, a pioneer resident of this place, passed away at 11:30 a.m. January 2, 1930, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.D. Winey. He had been in failing health for about two years and was confined to his room and to his bed most of the time for the last three months.

Mr. S.I. Newton was born August 21, 1849, in Stark county, Illinois, being 80 years, 4 months and 11 days of age at the time of his death. He was the fifth child of a family of ten children, born to David and Adah Newton. The early years of his life were spent at Pincherville, IL., and Quarry Station near Iowa City, Iowa, at which place he was married to Eva P. Fiscus, May 20, 1881.

His wife died March 16, 1882, leaving a little son about two months old. Mr. Newton then brought the little son to Crawford county to his mother, who was living on a farm in Otter Creek township. On May 6, 1882, death again entered his family, taking his small son. The loss of his wife and son grieved him so that it saddened his whole life.

He leaves to mourn his death, one brother, West A. Newton, of Corravallis, Oregon, who is 83 years old, and many other relatives. He was widely known in this vicinity and his many friends will miss his kindly ways.

The out of town relatives who attended his funeral were: Miss Rosa Raabe of Sioux City, and Mrs. Earl Tripp and children of Dunlap. The pallbearers were: Ferman Newcom, Roy Abbott, John Anderson, George Beaman, Broder Boysen and Guy Buffington. The funeral was held at the Methodist church at 2:00 o'clock p.m., Rev. Lovejoy officiated at the ceremony. Interment took place in the Deloit cemetery.
