He never saw his father {who was killed in a steam boat exposion} and was reared in the home of his brother-in-law, Marquis Helm, Jr. He married, May 10, 1838 in Lincoln County {KY}, Minerva Jane Johnson, born in Lincoln County and died Dec 20, 1893 in Fremont County, Iowa. Minerva..was the daughter of John Johnson born in Virginia May 22, 1979...and Lucretia Helm {1803-1882}... George S Yowell moved to Macoupin County, Illinois in 1848 and to Fremont County, Iowa in Dec 1864, living three and a half miles northeast of Sidney, where they celebrated their golden aniversery in 1888 with nine of their ten children living..."
