Son of Harold E. Long, Sr. and Myrtle H. Powell Long.

Howard, who resided in Millville, Delaware, served as a 2nd Lieutenant and navigator of a B-17 Bomber, U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was "Killed In Action" over Oranienbrg, Germany by anti-aircraft fire during the War.

He had served in the Air Corps for one year and eight months at the time of his death.
