Connie J. Schmidt, 65, Colorado Springs, Colo., a native of Catherine, died Wednesday in Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at Hays. He became ill last February while on a visit here and has remained here since that time.

Schmidt had been a resident of Colorado Springs 32 years and worked as a manufacturer's representative for military exchanges. His job covered five states. He served as a general manager at Camp Carson, Colo. for nine years.

Surviving are his widow, Angela, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Litt of Franklin Lake, N.J.; one son, Ray of Hollywood, Calif.; three grandchildren; six brothers, Felix and Alois, both of Catherine, Francis and Severin, both of Wichita, Joseph of Topeka, and Bishop Firmin Schmidt of New Guinea; and a sister, Miss Mary Schmidt of Catherine.

He was preceded by his parents and one brother.

Funeral service were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Catherine's Church, Catherine. Burial was in the church cemetery. Fr. Thomas More Janecek, Capuchin Provincial, officiated at the Conceibrated Mass. He was assisted by Capuchin Fathers Paulinus Karlin, Howard Bich, Cletus Blockinger, Anselm Martin, Christian Fey and Canice Froelich.

Pallbearers were Delmar Schmidt, Tom Schmidt, Kenneth Schmidt, James Schmidt, Bill Wasinger and Virgil Wasinger. Brock's North Hill Chapel had charge.
