John Harry Chastain was born May 27, 1888, at Wheatland, Missouri, the son of John and Caldona (Coons) Chastain. He married Lulu Fry on Nov 22 1917. He enlisted in the service on July 22, 1918 in Clinton, Missouri and went to Camp Funston for training. He died October 9, 1918, at the age of 20, from pneumonia brought on by a bout of influenza.
