Marino C. (Mike) Intrieri was born in Steelton, the son of Nick and Anna Intrieri. Mike was a prominent and popular figure in Central Pennsylvania sports circles for many years. He played high school football at Steelton, where he graduated in 1925. He went on to attend Loyola College in Baltimore, Maryland. He was an offensive lineman in the National Football League for the Staten Island Stapletons and the Boston Redskins from 1932-1934. Later, he held football coaching positions at Shippensburg and Millersville State Colleges, Lebanon Valley College and Hummelstown High School. His 23-year association with Lebanon High School started when he assumed the head football coaching post in 1945, a post he retained for 11 seasons. He also coached the Lebanon High School basketball varsity teams for several seasons, while also holding the position of director of athletics. He relinquished the head football position after the 1956 season, with a record of 66 victories, 44 losses, and six ties. His 1947 team shared the Central Penn League championship with Lancaster and Steelton. As a member of the Lebanon High school faculty, he taught social studies. Mike was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Lebanon, Lebanon Lodge 631, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, and the Lebanon School District’s Sports Hall of Fame. He died in Lebanon, Pennsylvania at the age of 61.
