Cecil Clinton Harrell, the 5th child, and 3rd son born to John Bartley Harrell and Jessie Leona Bell Chapman. Differing information indicates he was born in Little Rock, Saline, Arkansas or Harrisburg, Poinsett, Arkansas where the family lived after moving from Holmes County, MS where his four older siblings were born.

Cecil's parents continued moving towards California, working for various times along the way. His younger sister Ruth was also born in Arkansa before the family arrived in CA in June 1925, in Wineville, Riverside County, CA. By January 1926 the family moved one more time, north to Madera County with Cecil's five siblings, the youngest being only 3 weeks old!

Cecil grew up in a home of strict rules, work ethics, and values. He and his brothers helped their father on the family cotton ranch and as the four boys grew into teens and young adults they were also known as "those rowdy Harrell boys"!

Cecil graduated from Madera High School in Jun 1938 and married Genevieve Santos in Aug 1938. On June 12, 1940 he and Genevieve, along with their two small children: daughter Sandra and newborn son Cecil were living on the outskirts of Madera where Cecil was the manager of a farm. Sadly baby Cecil died four months later.

Three years later Cecil had moved his family to Oakland where he was working as a clerk. The marriage lasted one more year, ending in divorce in 1944.

By 1945 Cecil's life had changed again. He now had a son David and the family was living in Fresno County, CA. In June Cecil enlisted in the Army at Camp Beale, Marysville, CA and for the next few years Cecil, Patricia, and their son David lived with various family members in Madera County until this relationship ended.

Cecil moved to Portland, Multnomah, OR where he worked as a warehousman and met June B Jarrell LaVoie, a divorced mother of three. They married on 17 Mar 1949 in Vancouver, Clark, WA but continued to live in Portland. Eventually Cecil moved back to Fresno County where he owned two hardware/feed stores, one in Firebaugh, Fresno County and the other in nearby Dos Palos, Merced County. June and her children were there for a while but returned to live in Portland and the relationship ended, but they never divorced.

During the time in Dos Palos Cecil met the beautiful Maria de Pilar Verdugo, aka Mary. Mary and Cecil had two daughters.

Ever the wanderer, Cecil closed his stores and moved to San Francisco where he became a driver for Acme Towel Supplies, a job he would keep for many years. Eventually Cecil would have another daughter and continued to live in San Mateo County, CA until his death in Nov 1966.
