Mrs. Joseph F. Schneider, 63, R. 2, Kiel, died suddenly at her home this morning. She had been suffering from a heart ailment. Nee Lena Schaller, she was born April 16, 1896, a daughter of the late Frank and Anna Van de Loo Schaller, near Cleveland, Wis. When a child, her parents moved to the farm near Kiel. She received her education at St. Wendel and Ss. Peter and Paul parochial schools. She was married to Joseph Schneider of the Town of Meeme on Jan. 16, 1917, at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel. They operated a farm west of Kiel until their retirement a short time ago. She was a member of the Christian Mothers Society of the church.
Survivors are her husband;six sons, Lambert, of Route 2, Elkhart Lake, and Robert, Walter, Joseph Jr., Richard and Roger of Kiel, and daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Vernice) Gruenke and Mrs. Richard (Marie) Burkhardt, Sheboygan, Mrs. Michael (Anna Mae) Klapperich, Kiel, and Miss Betty, at home. ; 34 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Nicholas Ramminger of Sheboygan, Mrs. Herman Maurer of Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. Sylvester Grott of Manawa, Wis. and Mrs. John Kistner of Sheboygan, and one brother, Alfred of Kiel.
She was preceded in death by a son, Andrew, in November, 1954, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Kiel, following brief rites at Meiselwitz Funeral Home at Kiel at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. George Kiefer will be the celebrant of the requiem Mass and burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p.m. Thursday until the time of the services. Members of the Christian Mothers Society will pray the rosary at 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
